CONTAGEM, 2021, 11’
by André Novais Oliveira
The lack of electricity that affects the street which gives the short its name makes it appear, together with the acuity of the eyes of the one filming, the sparkle of the filmed bodies. Here, the theme seems to be the image itself: as precarious as it is tender and ordinary it is the scene that unfolds from the extraordinary fact. Luminous dust from this experimental night that summons the surface of the deep to be seen in the unsuspected scene. It's all there, and the grains of light dance in the memory's imprecise choreography.

MUITA HISTÓRIA PRA CONTAR
MANY STORIES TO TELL
by Daniel Souza Ferreira
Amidst the vastness of lives, the interval of cinema is created. We accompany Matéria Prima between taking care of the house and the music creation. At lunchtime, the meeting with his father, Sebastião Augusto, opens the scene to the story of memory. Between son and father, a confluence is launched: the common stoning of the expression between verses and lives. In the rhythm of sounds, the short deals with the variations of times: the intensity of the present, the reverberation of the past, the moments of learning.

In the dictionary definition, “abduct” is “the act of taking someone with violence”. Where Vovózona [Big Grandma] lives, signs appear, and he starts to notice. The handling of fiction places us, here, between the time of everyday life and an atmosphere of the stranger who settles in the streets, through the beam of light. Many suspicions lead us to believe that there is something that is lurking there, a presence that is also a cause of trauma and pain.
